More Office Space is Under Construction

Some of you may have noticed this past summer an open floor space attached to the staff lounge! This fall construction is under way on this floor space to make more office space. The new office space will provide room for a small conference room, a media room for production of the camp slide shows and videos and Drew Taylor's office. The roof will be completed by snowfall (hopefully!) and the inside will be finished in time for us to use this space this summer!

KP Entering Its Second Generation Of Family Ownership

Pat and Joyce Coughlan were inspired to create Kingsley Pines in 1984 based upon their mutual love for children and the importance of a camp experience in character development. Pat is often quoted as saying that his camp years taught him self-confidence, respect for others, and personal determination in ways his education and extracurricular activities could not. Both Pat and Joyce hope that each camper at Kingsley Pines will enjoy a similar life-changing summer, and they remain dedicated to encouraging an environment of fun, adventure, and personal growth.

Kingsley Pines Camp is now entering its second generation of ownership. Sons Devon, Carter, and Drew will begin to take over leadership of camp operations in 2010, though they have all been actively involved in camp for decades.  Each son attended Kingsley Pines as a camper and staff member, and thus brings their own memories and love to the ongoing development of camp. Pat and Joyce are thrilled to welcome their family as co-owners, and look forward to working with them to make KP the best camping experience available anywhere. With their wives and children also on campus during the summer months, this family team brings new energy and personal affection to our program. They are all committed to continuing the tradition that is Kingsley Pines.

Essential to the ongoing success of Kingsley Pines is the Camp Director, Alan Kissack. The summer of 2010 will be Alan’s 15th year at KP. His hard work, dedication, and devotion to campers, parents, and staff is appreciated and valued by all.

Bobbi Jo Visits KP

Bobbi Jo and Lisa walked the grounds of camp, and checked out our new mountain biking trails (while picking Winter Berries).  Bobbi Jo is currently working in Damrascotta, Maine as a Emergency Medical Technician and also works at the volunteer Fire Department.  Lisa is outfitted in her "Blaze Orange" vest because of deer hunting season.  It was great seeing you  Bobbi Jo!

Fall Weddings At KP

Wedding celebration fireworks on lodge lawn over looking Panther Lake on September 25, 2009

Some of you may not know that we have weddings here at camp after everyone goes back home and gets ready for school.    This past Fall we were extremely busy until the middle of October.  A big thank you to Bob Windrow for his help and ability to stay on with us.  Bob, with the occasional assistance from GW, was great.  Please take a moment to view some of the wedding photos.  Also, check out these two links, wedding at KP #1 and wedding at KP #2 .    Camp, the Lodge and the Dinning Hall look very different.  That being said, if you know of anyone that would be interested in KP for a wedding or event feel free to pass this on.

Thanks, Drew

New Golf Chip n' Putt with Driving Range

We are very excited to announce a much anticipated program improvement for next summer --- Kingsley Pines Golf .   Currently, we are in the process of installing a giant putting green, sand bunker, surrounding areas to chip onto the green, and a driving range with practice driving nets.  This means you do not  have to leave camp to master your golf skills.  We'll  still be playing at an area golf course once every activity week (until we install our own 9 holes, ha!).  Completion of the course should be around the end of this year.  Sign up for golf and we'll see you out on our new putting green!

Cabins 40 and 55 on the Move!

Cabin 40 ( a.k.a. Chickadee, where Tony and Bob lived) and Cabin 55 (a.k.a.Maple, where Tynan lived) were next to Pat and Joyce's house. This fall, they were moved to new locations! Cabin 40 will continue to be a staff cabin across the path from the Infirmary and near Rattlesnake. Cabin 55 will also continue to be a staff cabin and is now near the archery range by Cabins 33 and 34! The moves were quite exciting to watch as the truck and trailer squeezed the cabins through the trees! Needless to...

Kingsley Pines Compost Program

The Kingsley Pines compost program reduced food waste disposal by more than 10,000 pounds!!Thank you to everyone that participated in composting this summer.Over 10,000 pounds of food scraps, paper products, and grass clippings is now 25 cubic yards (three dump trucks full) of organic soil and will be used next year for our flower beds, landscaping, and shrubbery. Composting is a tangible, real world example of how we can reduce our waste and demand on landfills, while at the same time using our...
