For several years, we have invited parents of new and returning campers to join us during Staff Orientation for an insightful round table discussion on their expectations for their child's experience at camp. That evening has turned into one of the highlights of our staff orientation.
We are looking for parents who would be willing to talk freely about their decision to send their child to camp - their hopes, concerns, and expectations for the outcome of the camp experience. Most importantly, to answer the question,"What do you expect of our staff, the people who will be caring for your child?"
The Parent Panel is scheduled for Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 7:00-8:00 pm. We would like to have parents of both new and returning campers on the panel. Mileage reimbursement is available.
We would like to invite all new campers and their families to Kingsley Pines Exploration Day on Sunday, May 23, from 1:00-4:00 pm.

We will be offering tours all afternoon so you and your parents can see the cabins, dining hall, waterfront, theater, athletic fields, climbing tower, lodge, and so much more. You will also have a chance to meet the Owners, Director, and some of the staff.
This is a great opportunity for first-time campers to reduce some of their opening day jitters, because you will already know where things are located. Refreshments will be served. We hope you will be able to attend! Click here for directions to Kingsley Pines.
 With Saturday's temperatures in the low 20's, it was the perfect setting for Polar Pool Party and 2009 Reunion at the Holiday Inn in Somerville, MA. Thanks to the more than 60 campers that attended from around New England and even as far away as Florida. In addition to me, Alan, and Jean, counselors, GW, Brian, Dave, Lauren, and Colleen joined us for splashing good time!
Jean introduced us to to a new game, Human Poker. Each person was given a card. To "Shuffle the Deck", participants switched cards with another person in the room after introducing him or herself and answering a question, such as "what was your favorite meal at camp"? (The most popular answer was Taco Day!) After a few minutes, Jean shouted "Deal Me In" and everyone formed groups of five as quickly as possible. Each group was allowed to exchange 2 cards, but they could only do so if they performed a special action, like pretending to be a beached whale. There were many excellent beached whale impressions and a few that were worthy of an Oscar! The group that had the best poker hand in the end won a small prize.
Next I took group photos by session. Dave and Brian tried to "hide" in each of the photos. For lunch there was lots of pizza, salad and dessert which energized everyone for swimming. With so many people in the water, it may look like there was a contest to see how many campers could fit in the hot tub.
To top off the day, everyone got a reunion t-shirt designed by Jean exclusively for this event. We know Panther Pond is frozen over right now but seeing everyone made us hope that summer will be here soon!

A good time was had by all at the 2008 Winter Reunion on January 24th, at the Holiday Inn in Somerville, Massachusetts. On that frigid, wintry day, over 55 campers and staff were able to bask in the warmth of the hot tub, sauna, and heated pool of the hotel. It was almost just like summer- but without the waterskiing.
