First Swim of 2010!

It was such a beautiful day today, that Drew, Jean, and I felt like getting out of the office to take the first dip in Panther Pond!

Conveniently, Drew and I happened to have our swimsuits handy. Not one to be left behind, Jean went in fully clothed.  It was a balmy fifty-five degrees, the sun was shining, and there was not a cloud in the sky. The lake teperature was just perfect for swimming.

All that was missing was a beach ball, some floaty mats, and of course, the Blob!  But don’t worry.  All of that will be coming soon… and so will YOU!  See you in a few months.

KP Office Staff On The Lake During Winter

Don't try this at home!  We checked the thickness of the ice in several locations and it is over 10 inches. It has been quite cold in Maine and, unfortunately, we have had very little snow. The office staff (Alan, Pam, Laura Jo, Jean, and myself) decided to take a walk out on the lake. It was a beautiful day and we needed to get outside for a couple of hours.  Enjoy the pictures. You will notice that even during the winter months we always practice safety. As Bob would say "how  do you spell fun, S.A.F.E.T.Y!"

Ice Fishing at Camp - A Maine Tradition

This past weekend was just just beautiful.  On Saturday, we had temperatures in the high 30s (warm by our standards).  Lisa, Timmy, GW, and myself went  ice fishing about 500 feet off of the KP beach.  We brought out a fire pit, tables and chairs and enjoyed a wicked nice day.  Timmy turned out to be a successful sportsman and caught a giant Yellow Perch close to the end of the day (we practice catch and release).  Lisa spent much of her time decorating a snow caterpillar named Chilly and colored her with green food coloring.  If anyone is interested in spending a day at Kingsley Pines this winter trying their hand at ice fishing just let me know.  I'll take any excuse possible to spend time on a frozen block of ice.  Coming soon, we will have pictures of Alan driving across the lake with the plow truck.  He'll be wearing a life jacket of course!

Looking forward to seeing you all this summer!

First Snow Fall

Kingsley Pines' first snow fall.

Ol' Man Winter is here and so far we have had a few inches of snow. It's enough to cover the ground and buildings. It seems like just yesterday we were swimming in the lake and eating outside under our oak tree. Soon the lake will be frozen over and we have dared Alan to drive across it in the camp pickup truck. I'll definitly get some pictures of that! Check out more winter photos...

Bobbi Jo Visits KP

Bobbi Jo and Lisa walked the grounds of camp, and checked out our new mountain biking trails (while picking Winter Berries).  Bobbi Jo is currently working in Damrascotta, Maine as a Emergency Medical Technician and also works at the volunteer Fire Department.  Lisa is outfitted in her "Blaze Orange" vest because of deer hunting season.  It was great seeing you  Bobbi Jo!

Fall Weddings At KP

Wedding celebration fireworks on lodge lawn over looking Panther Lake on September 25, 2009

Some of you may not know that we have weddings here at camp after everyone goes back home and gets ready for school.    This past Fall we were extremely busy until the middle of October.  A big thank you to Bob Windrow for his help and ability to stay on with us.  Bob, with the occasional assistance from GW, was great.  Please take a moment to view some of the wedding photos.  Also, check out these two links, wedding at KP #1 and wedding at KP #2 .    Camp, the Lodge and the Dinning Hall look very different.  That being said, if you know of anyone that would be interested in KP for a wedding or event feel free to pass this on.

Thanks, Drew

Wildlife at Camp

While staying at camp through the months of September and October, I have come to realize that the grounds are much quieter than during the summer. Instead of hearing the shouts of campers playing on the fields and splashing in the lake, all that can be heard are the distance cries of the geese stopping through on their long trip down south and the falling of acorns on roofs of the cabins. Since the summer inhabitants have been gone for some time now, the year round residents come out of hiding...
