Last Swim of the Season!

The weather has been cooling off here at camp over the past few months. As you may have heard, Maine was even recently hit by a big snowstorm! It was a beautiful day and a balmy 65 degrees outside today! So we all decided it was high time to get our last swim in for the season.

Alan, Drew & Jean put on their swim attire and raced to the lake while Laura Jo and Angie offered moral support from the beach. You may recall that the lake is normally the temperature of bath water during the summer. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the water temperature in November. Alan and Drew dove in first with no inhibitions. Jean chickened-out at first, but finally gave in and dunked. And of course, once you've dunked, why not stay in a little longer? So Drew took Jean waterskiing, making sure she had her lifejacket on and buckled properly- safety first! She even did a little surfing. To her surprise, Alan and Drew thought it would be a great idea to sneak up and tip her off the surfboard. Jean was understandably not as excited about that idea.

Soon, the lake will ice over. But the first day it melts, we won't be able to hold ourselves back from enjoying yet another brisk and refreshing swim in the waters of Panther Pond. See more photos here!

The Last Swim of a Great Summer

WOW!  I must say that 52-degree water is quite refreshing.  As you may remember Alan, Jean. and I were the first ones to swim in our beautiful lake on April 13, 2010.  We are now officially the last! But seriously, who could resist one final dip on a gorgeous fall day with the temperatures hovering in the mid 60’s?  Jean decided to peacefully float on her tube, while Alan and I brushed up on our Frisbee skills.

The docks are put away, the ski boats are tucked into the playhouse, and the loons have flown south.  I cannot tell you how much we are looking forward to next summer.

See you soon, Drew

First Swim of 2010!

It was such a beautiful day today, that Drew, Jean, and I felt like getting out of the office to take the first dip in Panther Pond! Conveniently, Drew and I happened to have our swimsuits handy. Not one to be left behind, Jean went in fully clothed. It was a balmy fifty-five degrees, the sun was shining, and there was not a cloud in the sky. The lake teperature was just perfect for swimming. All that was missing was a beach ball, some floaty mats, and of course, the Blob! But don’t worry....

Whats Going On Here?

What's going on here?!  Why are these savage counselors covered in mud and paint?  And why are they attacking our beloved camp director, Alan?  Please post your responses or creative (and appropriate) picture captions in the comment section below.
