There is no place even remotely similar to Kingsley Pines. The memories and friends made are unlike any other. Not being able to go to camp all year is like waking up to the smell of your mom’s food, and not being able to go to the kitchen for a year. Counselors and staff are as amazing as it gets. They support you in your times of need and are constantly making sure that you are having fun. No one is left out of anything and the bond between every single person at a session is great. Kingsley Pines is a dream, one that many people will never have. I have been fortunate enough to live this dream and I couldn’t be more grateful for that. Kingsley Pines is for sure the most genuine experience I will have ever had in my entire life time, and one that I will never forget.

When I first arrived at Kingsley Pines, I was amazed by the awesome facilities, friendly counselors, cabins, etc. However, it being my first year at a sleep away camp, I was still pretty nervous. That all changed instantly though. I didn’t realize how I would become such close friends with the girls in my cabin! We still talk very frequently and see each other as well! My counselors were amazing as well, making sure we were never homesick and had everything we needed. Even after just one year of Kingsley Pines, I can’t imagine not having it in my life. Thank you KP for giving me the best two weeks of my life, and many more…

Last year was my first year at Kingsley Pines, I had the time of my life! Two of my good friends, Teller and Katy, had attended KP and I wanted to go. I am sooo happy I decided to go. I have such great memories of the parties and everything else. I loved my counslers soo much. I had so much fun when Siofra (still not sure how to spell that) was telling us scary stories while we were sailing.

From the first day when I was 4 and now I have been engulfed in a amazing community of people, activates, etc. This is only one reason I LOVE KP

Before I went to Kingsley Pines for the first time, I was really nervous. But when I first arrived at camp, I met my counselor. My counselor brought me to all my cabin mates and I shook their hands and when i did that, i realized that these were gonna be the best three weeks of my life. I remember shaking my friend patrick’s hand, and we are close friends now. Also Nate and Jonah became some of my best friends! I LOVE KP!!!!!!

KP is the best place on earth, and one of the reasons is the cabins. You become so close to your friends in your cabin you feel like sisters, [or brothers]. Kennebec was amazing. My counselors and cabinmates are friends I will never forget. I LOVE KP!!!!!

This year at KP was amazing!! I made so many friends, and I had the best counselors (Clara and Hannah *session 1* and Sharkey and Chrissy *session 2*)!!! I made so many great memories!! One memory that I will always remember is stealing a boat! It was six of us (5 campers, and a counselor). We carried a sunfish from the beach to our cabin!! We did it all during the night, and even though a sunfish is a small boat, it’s pretty heavy, especially for 6 people! This will always be one of my favorite memories! Thank you so much KP for making the summer of 2015 amazing!

As we got to the candy spot we found our target and we left. Then we saw Sean in his overalls and freaky horse head. we ran back to the cabin and feasted on our treat.

For the past two years of camp I had a blast. I tried new things and got extremely inspired by everything. I love sailing and meeting new friends. The counselors and I were friends throughout session 4. I loved the past two years of KP and want to come back next year. My brother is going, but I am going to a program to prepare for my high school/College years. Kingsley Pines will always be a part of me and I will never forget these two years that brought me closer to my brother, and got me into new activities. Sugarloaf will always be apart of me as I will never forget the funny, and magical times with my cabin mates. I can and will never forget KP and will tell my future children/grand parents to go to KP.

Thanks to the amazing community at KP, similarly to my first year of camp (when I performed for the first time), I decided to go way out of my comfort zone and write and perform my own song. It turned out amazingly well, thanks to Kelly, Sask, and everyone at KP session 2 2013. KP ROCKS MY SOCKS!

If i hadnt had the experience of being at relfections I don’t think I would really realize what camp brings forward. Hearing everyone say why they are up on stage and singing or playing an instrument to explain how they feel about camp; really makes a great end to camp. I got up on stage and performed a song which was scary at first but in the end was one of the most fun things I have ever done. Reflections is a fun night but also can be extremely sad. I wont ever forget my experience at reflections.

Where to even begin? Not sure that there are a lot of counselors sharing their stories in this memory book but I would love to. As a college graduate I was extremely skeptical about coming into a a summer camp as a counselor, but it was THE BEST decision I have ever made. The positive and inclusive environment that KP offers is one unlike any other. I met some of my best friends this summer and the campers absolutely changed my life. To the Coughlans: I thank you for being the greatest role models I have ever met and I will be forever grateful for the experience you provided me with this past summer. To the staff: you are my best friends and I could not ask for a better support system…you changed my life. To the campers: You are what KP is ALL about. you are unique, you are talented and you are HILARIOUS. We love you and you have made such a positive impact on all of your counselors’ lives. And to KP: Thank you for changing my life. I am forever indebted to you. I WILL see you in 2013 and I am anxiously counting down the days. See you all soon. I LOVE YOU. CHA CHA BOOCHIE. BOOM BOOM KP.

First of all, i have to say that kingsley pines is certainly the most wonderful place in the world. With such a nice staff !!! For exemple, on my first year, i was really homesick the first week ! (i am french, and so leaving my parents for 3 weeks to go 4000 miles away alone was not easy) but i met Carl, an awesome councelor, and he really helped me making new freinds, and on my last day, i was crying, not because i was homesick, but because i had to leave camp ! Last year, i met jack, a camper my age who lives in florida, he became one of my best freinds, and even if we saw each other for only 3 weeks, we are still talking by e-mail regularly. My favorite camp souvenir is certainly when we performed our play in front of every one, it was GREAT !!! I will just add one more thing, KP is really THE PERFECT PLACE TO IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH. At rhe begining, language was an issue, but now it’s fine for me. Thanks KP for making my summers awesome !

This year i will be retuning to Kingsley Pines for my third summer. Every year I come back and it’s always worth it. i always have such an amazing time at K.P. it’s truly the perfect way to kick off a summer. I remember the first year I came (2010) I walked by a group of the staff and they all started clapping. I didn’t know them but I could tell I was going to make lots of friends that summer. The second year I went (2011) I flew by myself for the first time, I knew I would be fine leaving the terminal because Kingsley Pines was waiting on the other side of the flight. If you send your kid to K.P. the first thing you going to here when you pick them up is… “Can I stay longer?”

My favorite special day was most definitely Rockstar Day my second year at camp. We made up a dance and won best choreography, walking into the playhouse for the “grammies” while the older campers acted like photographers, and fans screaming your name, was amazing. Oh, and I’ll never forget “Bon Jovi” day that quickly turned into pirate day with a mini food fight at breakfast. 🙂 operation lights out, the dances, benji, kitchen raids. I loved it all.

    Created by: Maley Thompson

My friend Evan and I went to Kingsley Pines for two summers when we were 11 and 12 years old. We were/ are both very theatrical, so we auditioned for every play we could (and they were usually VERY weird plays! “The Lost Half Hour?” “Last of the Dead Dog Gulch?”). But my favorite memory is of our first play, “HMS Pinafore.” We took it so seriously. Evan played “poor little Buttercup,” and because I was very tall, I (awkwardly!) played Sir Joseph. I had a mustache. We butchered the plot for time-constraint reasons, so the play made NO SENSE. Buttercup was somebody’s secret wife/ long-lost mother/ who knows. But it didn’t matter; we had such a fun time. I realize now just how important Kingsley Pines was to our friendship. Thanks to Camp, we have decades-long inside jokes, the same long-lost friends, and shared memories. We know how to water ski and clean the Biffy, we can recite every line of “The Labyrinth,” we could play “Kick the Can” professionally, and we know how to tread water in a freezing lake. Evan is currently my maid-of-honor for my upcoming wedding (we’re almost 30 now!), and I *know* that Kingsley Pines will feature in her speech. I’m hoping she’ll finally explain how exactly Sir Joseph and Buttercup are related.

The transition to a Counselor in Training (CIT)requires a trip. The year I became a CIT, I went on a 17 mile canoe trip along Lake Aziscohos, with Mike Congleton, and other CITs. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. We had a great time! We learned valuable leadership skills, and team work.

This year was my fourth year of camp and my first year doing 5 weeks. At the end of Session 3, I found out that for Session 4 I was going to be in a cabin of 12 girls. Until that point, the biggest cabin I had been in had 8 girls, and I was nervous for such a big group. However, that session turned into one of my best ones I had ever experienced. I quickly found that all 12 of us clicked and our 3 counselors were amazing. At the end of the session, I had 14 new sisters (11 my age and 3 big sisters), and they all mean the world to me. I will never forget Ossippee 2011.

My best camp memory is of when I went waterskiing. It was really fun because I had never done it before.

Co-hosting Reflections last year with a counselor and getting to introduce my friends performing on stage will always be one of my favorite memories.

For cabin unity, we tied up Jean (The Program Director). (Note: No Jeans were harmed in the process… but she will always remember the sneaky attackers who tricked her!)

When I was a Teen Leader, we led Alice in Wonderland Day and each Teen Leader would be in charge of a station and the kids would rotate to each. My station was a dance station in the GaGa pit and Meena and I had the kids dance battle each other and it was so much fun and so funny!

I was so scared to go on the rope swing, but my friends forced me to go on and so I did and I loved it. It was so fun. I did it again and again and again.

I learned the song (Razorback Steak)from Derek and in 2010 I got to sing it at a Sea Dogs Game. It was awesome.

I was really scared to do the giant swing. I was scared of heights. Finally, I decided to do it. It was scarey at first, but then I loved it at the end.
